Helping every girl flourish
In the Junior School at St Catherine’s, we believe girls learn best when they feel safe, known and connected. These formative years are an important time for developing confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self, which is why wellbeing is woven into daily school life through our Academic Care Program. Within a warm and supportive environment, girls are encouraged to build positive relationships, navigate challenges and develop the skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
Guided by our Junior School Head of Wellbeing, students learn to understand their emotions, respond positively to setbacks and grow in independence. Working in partnership with families, we foster a culture of trust, care and open communication, ensuring every girl feels valued, supported and confident to seek help when needed.
Wellbeing through connection
Learning skills for life
From Kindergarten to Year 6, students participate in weekly wellbeing sessions that strengthen emotional awareness, social skills and self-belief. All Junior School students participate in the URSTRONG program, which helps girls build healthy friendships, manage conflict and strengthen social-emotional skills.Year 6 students also lead K-5 wellbeing groups, modelling positive relationships and supporting younger peers. These experiences reinforce our commitment to resilience, kindness and connection, while providing valuable leadership opportunities.
Learning kindness
Through our partnership with the b kinder Foundation, St Catherine’s Junior School is proud to be a b kinder school. This student-led initiative encourages meaningful acts of kindness that strengthen empathy, inclusion and connection across the School community. It also provides opportunities for girls to lead by example and experience the positive impact of caring for others.
