Ms Deb Magill is the 14th Headmistress of St Catherine’s School Sydney. With more than 30 years of experience across international, regional and metropolitan schools, she brings a deep commitment to educational excellence and the development of the whole child. Holding both master’s and bachelor’s degrees in education, Ms Magill has particular interests in constructivist learning design and personalised learning.
She is a member of the Independent Schools NSW Centre for Excellence Council (ISCE). At the heart of her educational philosophy is a belief that strong relationships underpin meaningful learning. She believes great education begins with truly knowing each student, understanding how she learns, what inspires her and how best to support and challenge her growth. Ms Magill is passionate about leading with compassion, fostering strong communities and ensuring every girl is known, valued and empowered to flourish.
A highly experienced educator and school leader, Elizabeth combines her passion for the arts with a deep commitment to helping young people discover their strengths, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning. Holding a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Applied Leadership in Positive Education, Elizabeth believes that wellbeing and learning are closely connected.
She is passionate about creating environments where students feel a strong sense of belonging and are supported to navigate challenges, celebrate achievements and grow into capable, resilient young women. Through her leadership, Elizabeth fosters a culture where every girl is valued, encouraged to contribute and inspired to flourish both academically and personally.
Rebecca is passionate about supporting the development of the whole person and helping students find a genuine sense of belonging within a school community. Holding a Bachelor of Arts (Social Science) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), she has been a valued member of the St Catherine’s community for almost two decades.
Rebecca enjoys working closely with both day students and boarders, collaborating with staff and families to ensure every girl feels connected, supported and able to thrive. Known for her warm, approachable and practical leadership style, Rebecca is committed to creating an environment where students feel understood, valued and encouraged to embrace the opportunities and challenges of school life with confidence.
Matthew brings a deep commitment to teaching excellence, professional growth and the transformative power of education. Holding a Bachelor of Education (Humanities – History and English) and a Master of Educational Leadership (with Excellence), he has developed extensive expertise across a range of independent school settings.
Originally trained as a secondary teacher, Matthew is passionate about fostering a culture of curiosity, engagement and high-quality learning. He is particularly committed to supporting early career teachers, helping them develop the confidence and expertise to make a lasting impact in the classroom. A strong advocate for girls’ education, Matthew is dedicated to nurturing the learning and character development of young women. He leads with intellectual curiosity, clarity and purpose, and is committed to creating an environment where both students and staff are encouraged to strive for excellence and realise their potential.
Andrew brings more than 20 years of experience in professional services and a decade of leadership experience within the not-for-profit and education sectors.
With expertise in governance, risk management and business operations, he plays a vital role in supporting the systems, resources and services that enable both students and staff to flourish. Andrew is a Chartered Accountant with a Master of Commerce and has also served on the board of a children’s charity.
Ben brings extensive experience across communications, publishing, marketing, events, fundraising and community engagement. Having held leadership positions across several independent schools, he is passionate about building meaningful connections between students, families, staff, alumni and the wider community.
Through his work, Ben helps strengthen the sense of belonging that defines St Catherine’s, ensuring our community remains engaged and united by a shared commitment to supporting every girl’s journey.
A dedicated educator and ordained minister, Kylie is committed to helping students explore questions of purpose and identity while understanding their value and significance through the Christian faith.
Originally trained as a Science teacher, Kylie later completed a Bachelor of Divinity and was ordained in 2013. Her unique combination of teaching and ministry experience allows her to support students as they engage thoughtfully with faith, learning and the world around them. Kylie helps foster a culture of compassion and belonging, encouraging girls to engage with life and learning with courage and purpose.
Christine is passionate about creating learning environments where every child feels known, supported and inspired to achieve her potential. Holding a Bachelor of Education (Primary), she has led initiatives across curriculum development, innovation, wellbeing and student growth. She is committed to building collaborative and inclusive learning communities where students develop confidence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning.
Christine helps ensure the Junior School experience provides strong foundations for future success while nurturing the values, relationships and sense of belonging that are central to a St Catherine’s education.
As Director of Boarding, Chelsea brings a strong commitment to creating an environment where girls feel supported, connected and empowered to thrive, fostering a strong sense of belonging within the Boarding House. In her role as Indigenous Student Coordinator, Chelsea also supports and strengthens the experiences of Indigenous students, helping to build a school community that values inclusion, connection and respect.
Through her leadership, Chelsea encourages girls to develop independence and resilience, ensuring they leave St Catherine’s as capable, optimistic young women with strong character and a sense of purpose.
Leading our Enrolments team, Kelly is often one of the first people prospective families meet and is committed to ensuring every interaction reflects the warmth and care of the School community. She works closely with families to provide a welcoming experience and a smooth transition into school life.
Drawing on her background in science, research and data management through her Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, Kelly combines exceptional attention to detail with a genuine commitment to supporting students and families as they become part of the St Catherine’s community.
