A confident transition to the next chapter
For every St Catherine’s girl, Year 6 marks an exciting transition from Junior School to Senior School. As students prepare for this next stage, our transition program helps them approach the experience with confidence, familiarity and a sense of excitement about what lies ahead.
Preparing for new adventures
By gradually introducing new environments, routines and experiences, we help girls build the confidence and independence needed to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm. These opportunities encourage students to develop resilience, adaptability and a sense of responsibility, all within a supportive and nurturing setting. As they step beyond their familiar surroundings, girls gain valuable life skills, strengthen their relationships with peers and learn more about themselves, helping them feel prepared and supported as they take this important next step in their educational journey.
Supporting future learning
Academic testing helps us understand each student’s learning profile and supports thoughtful class placement for Year 7. The purpose is not to grade or rank students, but to create learning groups that foster engagement, progress and confidence as girls move into Senior School.
Feeling ready from day one
Orientation Day for new Year 7 students takes place in Term 4 and provides an important introduction to Senior School life. Students meet members of the leadership team, tour the campus, explore the Year 7 common room and receive resources to help them prepare for the year ahead. By the time they begin Year 7, girls already feel connected to their new environment and ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.
