St Catherine's School Sydney

Founded in 1856, St Catherine’s is a school for young women of character and intellect, dedicated to making a meaningful contribution to the world.

With 168 years of experience educating young women, we have developed a rigorous K-12 academic and cocurricular program, offering one of the broadest curriculum selections available to nurture each student to reach her full potential.

We are Australia’s oldest Anglican girls’ school and believe this rich heritage, coupled with our vast educational offering, is key to our success.

Why St Cath's?

With a broad curriculum, extensive cocurricular programs and world-class facilities, St Catherine’s nurtures each student to reach her full potential.

Our students excel across all areas. Academically, we ranked 21st in the state for the 2023 Higher School Certificate. In sport, our girls represent Australia in everything from Rowing to Water Polo and Rock Climbing. In the performing arts, we received 18 creative nominations for major works in 2023.

Yet, we believe a well-rounded individual is about more than just success. Guided by our core values of integrity, courage, relationships and service, we foster humility and compassion. Our girls embrace challenges with resilience and boldness, drawing strength from our supportive community.

Our girls leave us as young women of character and intellect, dedicated to making a meaningful contribution to the world.

We are an Anglican school educating young women for life.

Why choose a
girls' school?

St Catherine’s is a proud member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools. Our teaching is intentionally tailored to girls – with our learning environment designed to give unparalleled opportunities for students to find their own voices, thrive in STEM and sports, develop self-confidence and grow as leaders.

Research has consistently proven that girls in single-sex schools achieve higher academic outcomes and have greater self-esteem and confidence.

A girls' school helped our students:

Our Junior School is a place of wonder and exploration, where students discover new things, grow in their learning and develop friendships.

We build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy to ensure students have every opportunity to thrive academically and personally in the future.

Our Senior School builds further academic and personal strength.

We provide strong support and tailored guidance for every student in their pursuit of individual excellence and academic success.

Boarding at St Catherine’s is a unique way to experience life at school.

Our modern, comfortable and newly-renovated boarding house caters for 66 boarders.

Our dedicated boarding staff live on-site, providing a strong sense of community while allowing girls to develop independence.
