Building independence through shared experiences
As girls grow in confidence and independence, St Catherine’s gently introduces opportunities for them to spend time away from home in a safe, supportive and age-appropriate environment. Through carefully planned experiences, students are encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones, build resilience, strengthen friendships and develop a greater sense of responsibility, all while being supported by trusted staff who know them well.
Learning through adventure
Each camp experience is thoughtfully designed to help students develop resilience, teamwork and self-confidence while stepping outside their everyday routines. Through shared challenges, new experiences and opportunities for personal growth, girls build lasting friendships, strengthen their independence and create memories that stay with them long after the camp has ended.
A gentle introduction
In Years 3 and 4, students experience their first night away from home through a one-night camp on the outskirts of Sydney. This carefully supported introduction allows girls to practise independence while still feeling close to home, helping them build confidence in a reassuring and nurturing environment.
Growing confidence
In Years 5 and 6, students participate in three-night camps that provide opportunities to challenge themselves, try new activities and deepen friendships. Through these shared experiences, girls develop independence, teamwork and problem-solving skills while discovering what they are capable of achieving. They return with greater confidence, stronger connections and valuable preparation for the years ahead.
