Appointment of Interim Headmistress

The St Catherine’s School Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Judith Poole as Interim Headmistress of St Catherine’s, commencing January 2023. She will take over from Dr Julie Townsend who has been Headmistress of St Catherine’s since 2010.

Mrs Poole has a distinguished record in school leadership, with a particular passion for the education of girls and young women.

For 12 years, she was the Head of Abbotsleigh, a highly regarded Anglican day and boarding school for girls on Sydney’s North Shore. Mrs
Poole is an exemplary candidate whom the Council has appointed as Interim Headmistress for 2023 and 2024.

Opening of PAC

Our 12th Headmistress, Dr Julie Townsend, offered the following Vote of Thanks at the opening of the school’s new Performing Arts & Aquatic Centre:

Ms Yasmin London (Dunn) (OG2000) — Executive Director in online safety

Yasmin is the executive director of ySafe, Australia’s largest online safety education organisation. Yasmin has overseen the delivery of over 500,000 online safety education

Ms Amber Daines (OG1993) — communications expert

Amber is a former print and TV journalist turned PR powerhouse, author, speaker, media trainer and business leader who consults to businesses across Australia.

We would like to acknowledge the Bidjigal and Gadigal peoples who are the Traditional Custodians and First Peoples of the land, waterways and ocean where St Catherine’s School stands today. We would also like to pay our deepest respects to Elders both past and present.

Together as a school, we acknowledge the continuing cultural relationships of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their unique rich cultures which contribute significantly to the St Catherine’s community and the lives of all Australians.
