Indigenous Education Program

It is our vision that Indigenous students have access to a high-quality secondary education. To that end, we have longstanding relationships with Indigenous communities and organisations to find ways for students to access a St Catherine’s education.

Many of our Indigenous Education Program recipients are also boarding students, who join our school community through our partnership with the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF).

Providing support

Indigenous students have a dedicated member of staff who coordinates communication between them and their families, the partnership groups and our school staff.

It is vital that students feel settled and supported and remain connected to their community while living and studying at St Catherine’s.

Indigenous culture and heritage is celebrated at St Catherine’s School, with regular visits from local elders, workshops from community groups and school-wide celebrations for Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.

Indigenous Scholarships

Our first Indigenous scholarships were awarded in the 1990s, and our partnership with the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF) began in 2009. We work closely with them to provide places to Indigenous students who would like to board at St Catherine’s.

We also have strong relationships with the GO Foundation and the Moriarty Foundation and accept applications from these organisations on a case by case basis.

Applying for an Indigenous Scholarship

To apply for a scholarship, please complete the AIEF application form and St Cath’s application form linked below.

Please note that St Catherine’s applications can be submitted to the Director of Enrolments by post or email, and that our enrolment registration/application fee is waived for Indigenous scholarship applicants.

For further information about Indigenous scholarships or upcoming application rounds, families are encouraged to contact our Enrolments team at enrol@stcatherines.nsw.edu.au.

Our Open Mornings allow you to experience life at St Catherine’s. Hear from our staff and students, take a guided campus tour and discover why we’re the right school for your family.

2026 Dates:

  • Wednesday 2 September

We would like to acknowledge the Bidjigal and Gadigal peoples who are the Traditional Custodians and First Peoples of the land, waterways and ocean where St Catherine’s School stands today. We would also like to pay our deepest respects to Elders both past and present.

Together as a school, we acknowledge the continuing cultural relationships of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their unique rich cultures which contribute significantly to the St Catherine’s community and the lives of all Australians.
