St Catherine's School Sydney

We are a school for unique young women of character, ready to make their mark on the world.

We foster each student’s individuality to help them discover their potential, develop their abilities and achieve their dreams.

We are Australia’s oldest Anglican girls’ school and believe this rich heritage, coupled with our vast educational offering, is key to our success.

Founded in 1856, St Catherine’s is Australia’s oldest Anglican girls’ school.

With 168 years of experience in educating young women, we offer a rigorous academic program and one of the broadest curriculum choices available.

We welcome students from Kindergarten to Year 12, with boarders joining us from Year 7.

We are an Anglican school educating young women for life.

Guided by strong values

Why a girls' school?

St Catherine’s is a proud member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools. Our teaching is intentionally tailored to girls – with our learning environment designed to give unparalleled opportunities for students to find their own voices, thrive in STEM and sports, develop self-confidence and grow as leaders.

In a girls’ school, young women are empowered to fearlessly explore every subject area, experience every cocurricular activity and seize every leadership opportunity.

Research has consistently proven that girls in single-sex schools achieve higher academic outcomes and have higher self-esteem and confidence.

Attending a girls’ school has helped St Catherine’s students to achieve:

  • 10 top in-state rankings for the 2023 Higher School Certificate.
  • First in-state rankings in English and EAL/D.
  • A national ranking in Robotics.
  • A Rowing scholarship to Harvard.
  • The highest possible Cadet rank.
  • Three gold medals and Top Overall Girls’ School at the 2024 Australian Rowing Championships.
  • First in the 800m at the 2023 Australian Junior Track and Field Championships.
  • A world record at Henley Royal Regatta for Barrier and equal record for Fawley in The Prince Phillip Challenge Trophy.
  • Selection for the 18&U Female Water Polo Australia National Age Group Program Squad.
  • 18 creative nominations for the 2023 Higher School Certificate.

Becoming bold in spirit and open in mind.
