Water polo wonder

Meggie is the daughter of Cathy, a St Catherine's Old Girl who enjoyed her education so much she has sent both of her daughters to the School since Kindergarten.

Meggie is a high academic achiever and an elite athlete. A diligent and perceptive student she strives to be the best she can be. After years of excelling in competitive swimming, her focus has changed to water polo and her sporting career is going from strength to strength. Her competitive streak was evident in New Zealand at the Pan Pacific Youth Water Polo Festival, where her team brought home bronze and silver medals.

Out of the water Meggie has a flair for visual arts, creating beautiful pieces of work. She has achieved distinctions and high distinctions in ICAS tests for science and mathematics throughout her school life and in Year’s 7 and 8 she received academic achievement prizes at Speech Night. Something she is very proud of.

Meggie also has a passion for service education and went on the annual trip to Nepal to work with the Mitrataa Foundation.

Meggie said, “I enjoy playing sport, especially team sports as it is fun and challenging and I have made lots of friends. Aside from sport, I really enjoyed volunteering in Nepal. It was an amazing experience and it made me view my life very differently. The people we were working with were always happy and smiling despite their situation. I learnt a lot from the Mitrataa Foundation and felt like I was making a real difference.”
