International exchange

St Catherine’s girls can expand their personal growth and enrich their minds through international exchanges. Students learn about different cultures by being a part of them, and appreciating first-hand the customs, lifestyle and nuances of the host country. In this way, an exchange offers lifetime experience, by helping to develop the skills needed to live and work in a global community.

International exchange

St Catherine’s is passionate about providing students with the very best education, both within the school and sometimes even beyond its gates. From Year 9 onwards, St Catherine’s girls have the opportunity to take part in exchanges to Argentina, Germany, France and Japan to enhance their language skills and cultural appreciation. Students who have participated in an exchange have found the experience immensely enriching. In particular, they have commented on their increased cultural understanding, helping them to develop a more global perspective. Those who embark on exchange also enjoy engaging with a different curriculum and tend to make valuable friendships along the way.

Year 9 cultural exchange program

In addition to our language exchanges, St Catherine’s offers a structured, five-week cultural exchange program for Year 9 students, in conjunction with distinguished independent schools in the UK and Argentina. They are the Royal High School in Bath, The Wells Cathedral School in Somerset and St Philip the Apostle School in Argentina. Participating students spend approximately five weeks during July and August hosting an exchange ‘sister’, who attends St Catherine’s with her during term time. Australian girls then travel to either Argentina or England in late September to spend five weeks as a guest in their host sister’s home, and also attend their school. This reciprocal program is very beneficial in cultivating cultural awareness, international perspective and long-lasting global relationships.
