Beyond the curriculum activities

To develop initiative, confidence and teamwork St Catherine’s girls are encouraged to participate in activities beyond the curriculum (BTC). We offer a range of programs to nurture their creative, physical, intellectual and social abilities. The holistic approach helps each girl to reach her true potential and prepare for post-school experiences.

What is BTC?

Beyond the Curriculum (BTC) consists of two areas; our Extra-curricular program and the Out of School Hours Care program. Both programs enhance and extend student learning and experiences beyond academic programs in a safe, fun and enjoyable environment.

Many life skills may be learned outside the classroom including leadership, decision making, taking responsibility, commitment, teamwork and learning to organise or motivate. BTC programs and activities at St Catherine’s are not limited to the girls who attend the school. Holiday programs, adult courses and a selection of other activities are also offered to siblings, parents, and boys and girls from other schools in the community.

What’s on offer

BTC programs include fashion and design, yoga, pilates, cooking, chinese, art, Trinity Guildhall speech and drama, the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, cardio fitness, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, dance, swimming and more.

The majority of BTC programs begin in Week 2 of each term, with a total of 30 lessons provided throughout the course of the year. For more information about the enrolment process, lesson content and skill level requirement, please download the Beyond the Curriculum handbook 2017 or contact the BTC administration at or call 8305 6313.

 Beyond the Curriculum

St Catherine's community offers fantastic opportunities to grow, both in and out of the classroom.  Studying beyond the curriculum and participating in extra-curricular activities can have a positive effect on a student's academic achievement."
