Headmistress' response to media reports 18 February 2020

We were very disappointed to hear the negative news reports around the removal of asbestos from the school site, especially as we work so closely with Richard Crookes Constructions (RCC) on this development. The reports are unfounded. RCC has issued the following statement regarding their removal process:

Richard Crookes Constructions (RCC) is in the process of removing Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) inside the construction work site at the St Catherine’s School in Waverley.

This work is being carried out by appropriately licenced personnel, under the supervision of specialist qualified consultants, in accordance with all appropriate regulations.

The management of asbestos is something which RCC takes very seriously. We have developed diligent procedures to identify and manage ACM on our sites and appreciate the importance of ensuring the safety of all stakeholders, particularly when delivering works within an operational environment.

The safety and wellbeing of those on and around our sites is always, and will continue to be, our first priority.

Both RCC and St Catherine’s are committed to the safety and security of our students, staff, contractors and wider community. Please rest assured there is no reason to be concerned.

Should you have any questions at any time please email rpac@richardcrookes.com.au. We review all correspondence with RCC on a regular basis.
