Year 6 mathematics 'Shark Tank' presentations

Year 6 mathematics students worked hard during Term 3 to research and design a business, solution or product to pitch to 'Sharks' in Term 4. The girls were encouraged to create and plan a business, utilise key mathematical skills, as well as develop competency in areas of technology, communication, and collaboration.

Businesses included a 24-hour childcare, silicone bumper car, a ski pack and a business encouraging homeless people into the workforce.

Over Term 3, the 6Y mathematics class prepared 'Shark Tank' presentations. We presented our work to a panel of judges, who decided if our product was worth investing in. This investigation was based on a television show called Shark Tank, where entrepreneurs with original businesses appeared on the show to try to get the judges to invest in their products.

We were also challenged to make a business, think of the financial issues, be creative with our ideas, research the statistics and appeal to judges on the panel. Each company was incredible, and many received 'thumbs up' from the 'Sharks' or judges.
