From Darkness, Light

Our young musicians shone like a light on a cold and windy evening last Friday. Our theme - From Darkness, Light - saw performances ranging from the darkness of film music for Pyscho and the works of Tim Burton to music that shone with colour. The performances were accompanied by the beautiful video art of Ms Kate Sonter. We farewelled our Year 12 musicians who have given so much to the school in their years at St Cath's. Particular mention must be made of Year 12 student Ellen Zhang who gave a stunning rendition of Debussy's Reflets dans L'eau on the piano. A big congratulations must also be given to all the students and staff who created an outstanding concert. The evening finished with the combined forces of Rock Band and Big Band as they performed This Little Light of Mine, based on Mathew 5 –

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they out it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
