I like working with Mrs Browning and Year 1 because they make me think differently and I like doing projects and learning about lots of things from fact books."

Love of literature

Since Ruby’s first day of Kindergarten her talent for reading and her love of literature has shone through. Every girl at St Catherine’s is provided with an education to suit her needs and Ruby was soon referred to the Gifted and Talented program to allow her talents to flourish.

Ruby now takes part in the Lexile Reading program, an innovative computer-based program designed to motivate, encourage and monitor guided and independent reading. Ruby has also started an English Extention course and joins a Year 1 class for extra reading. In addition she works with the Teaching and Learning Coordinator on extended writing tasks and additional lessons using THRASS.

Ruby thoroughly enjoys her extra projects, saying, "I like working with Mrs Browning and Year 1 because they make me think differently and I like doing projects and learning about lots of things from fact books."

Ruby also has a love of learning languages and has excelled in her French classes. One of her favourite lessons was when they held a French party, tasted French food and learned more about French culture.
