Our Community

St Catherine's is chosen by parents for its caring ethos, its strong educational focus, its commitment to providing for each child as an individual, and its friendly and open environment. The majority of students at the School come from the adjacent suburbs although the catchment area is very extensive. The main intake years are Kindergarten, Year 5, Year 7 and Year 11, with approximately one third of Year 7 girls entering from other primary schools. There are about 60 boarders including girls from country NSW, Sydney and overseas. A wide social mix is represented in the School and our students come from over 50 different ethnic groups. Multiculturalism and valuing difference is one of the treasured aspects of St Catherine's.

Our teachers are similarly diverse in their outlook and their backgrounds, but all are supportive of the Christian ethos of the School. They are well-qualified professionals, passionate about teaching, committed to life long learning and to providing opportunities for the next generation. They bring to St Catherine's a range of experiences in others schools, in other careers and in their lives as active members of the wider community beyond St Catherine's. 

The four great supports of our School are the School Council, the Old Girls' Union, the Parents and Friends' Association and the St Catherine's Foundation. All are very committed to the School. Their work in the management of the School, in classrooms, in mentoring programmes and in fund-raising is a vital part of the St Catherine's ethos. Together they enrich our School and work to provide St Catherine’s with the governance and resources to provide an outstanding, innovative and relevant education for girls and young women.
