St Catherine's has maintained its fine ideals and purposes as a Christian school with a sound academic tradition for over 150 years.
The St Catherine's School Council has an important role to play in the maintenance and continuation of the traditions of the School.
The responsibilities of the Council include:

The members of the St Catherine's School Council are primarily elected by the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney or appointed by the Archbishop of Sydney who is the ex-officio President of the Council. The Dean of Sydney and the Diocesan Director of Education are also ex-officio members.
Three Clergy, six Laymen/Laywomen are elected by Synod, each for a four year term. Two Laymen/Laywomen are appointed by the Archbishop. One member is appointed by the Old Girls' Union.
The Headmistress attends meetings of the Council and the Business Manager attends at the invitation of the Headmistress. The Council meets in the School on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
